As the Latin term so rightly puts it, Let the Buyer Beware! It used to be eBay's motto back in the early years (2000-2004), but they removed it when eBay went humungo. Otherwise, you may end up bidding on this:

expecting the attached picture, but ending up getting this:

Big difference, huh. I haven't had the best of luck buying on eBay for roses, but doesn't mean I don't like looking at the pretty pictures! That's how I found Molineux, whereas I then purchased it through a reputably dealer (Chamblees).

Wellllll shoot! That's not even remotely close! I suppose, after looking at the comments on HMF, that the rose is interesting. If you had the room and could contain the suckers. The hips look good, do you make jams and jellys? When life gives you rose hips, make rose hip jelly! Smiling

Speaking of which, I understand Hansa produces good hips. Terri, do you know which other roses make especially tasty and bountiful rose hip jelly?

(I once actually bit into a rose hip on Midas Touch and found the flesh to taste subtly of apples. That's the complete summary of my culinary experience with rose hips.)

No, I don't know. Maybe check with the canning/jams and jelly people. I'd love to make some myself as I have had rose hip jelly (I think it was jelly) and I liked it. I've got a recipe if I ever find enough hips.

Found yet another amazing rose.

Emailed the person asking if they had a non-photoshopped image of this rose and if they had a "real" Mint Julep as I've been wanting one of those for a few years now. Let's see if I get a response.

An introduction from Europe that has been in limited supply for years. Mint Julep is a hybrid tea rose that has stunning fragrant golden-yellow blooms tipped with shades of lime-green. Large blooms will cover these plants all summer long, well into the fall, making excellent cut flowers for summer bouquets. Thrives in well-drained soil and full sun. Hardy variety that will last for years in the landscape. Grows 3-4' tall and gets 2-3' wide. Very disease and pest resistant.
Plant size/format: 2 year- old bareroot roses. Includes 1 plant.

Planting guide included.

Lady responded back to my email, stating that this was the exact image that the "manufacturer" gave her. Manufacturer?

It's just a little more believable than the blue rose. At least the colors depicted are colors found among roses. And they are selling plants, not seeds.

More photos of Mint Julep: http://davesgarden.com/guides/...

Doesn't thrill me.
