I posted a lot of pictures last year and intended to take a lot this year. However, my camera decided otherwise. I had problems with the memory chip and only got a few on the camera before I had to revert to my cell phone. So, not very many pics this time.
It's a great show, and it coincides with an open house at the University Science colleges. It's a large university devoted to botanical science. They have an interesting native plants garden as well that I should go and take some pictures at one day. Any way, this weekend there were busloads of students from all over brought to see the exhibits designed to get the kids interested in plant science.
I took a couple pics of the exhibits before I went to our club's plant sale and show.
This exhibit was about things you can do with coconuts, all the masks were made from coco shells and the kids were invited to make their own.
This was about what can be made with agave
Now we are in the exhibition. This was one of the winners. I took pics of the ID cards so that I would know what they were. I'll put the ID pic after the plant.
unfortunately, I can't quite read the ID on this one.
This is a Tillandsia streptophylla
I believe the card on this reads Tillandsia platcada
I particularly liked this one as it has my last name, Aloe Harlana
This was one of grand winners, very odd plant but unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the ID card so I've no idea what it is.
Even more of a problem, I didn't get the name of this plant and it is the one I brought home with me from the sale outside. Anyone know what it is? I just really liked the shape of it and the seller said it likes to be in the shade, hopefully it will like the shady terrace off my bedroom.
