I'm sorry, but I need to vent. Just went out to spray an organic fish fertilizer on my pumpkin patch & I found my first fairytale pumpkin....

Smashed in my driveway.... Definitely not a racoon or squirrel... Definitely a pest of the human variety...m and the seeds were scattered all over the alley long our driveway...

I'm crushed & pissed off all at the same time....

Earlier this year, one NGA member confronted his neighborhood flower pilferers (girls on bicycles). He was apparently diplomatic about it, recognizing the common bond of loving beautiful things. The girls sent a letter of apology illustrated with their drawings of flowers. He sent a letter accepting the apology, with some flower seeds and instructions. Now he has friends instead of pilferers. I hope there will be a happy ending for you, too.
Looks like your pumpkin was ripe enough to have viable seed - definitely salvage what you can from the alley.

I just got a chance to read this thread and I am so sorry that happened!! Some people can be SO inconsiderate! I don't understand how there can be such shameful people who think it is cool to be so destructive and ruin other people's property/hopes/lives/etc. intentionally.

So glad I do not live in the city. I would have to hurt someone. Kids need to be taught right from wrong. If I ever heard that my kids had done this they would be using their next summer weeding your garden all year.

No worries and thanks. Everyone out here gets basic quarry junk as their driveway.... It's the cheapest option.... We just need to get more from time to time
