Can you please help me identify this plant? It comes up in my back yard, but I am not sure if this is a weed or not. Thank you.

I'm not from the northeast, but I think those distinctive leaves belong to a northeastern North American species Sweet Fern - Comptonia peregrina.

agreed with Comptonia. I have it in a local park along the edge of woods, dry shade.

Thank you so much for identifying this plant! I looked up sweet fern, that it looks exactly like that! It grew among some weed in my back yard, but I will make sure to keep it, I will just have to transplant it to a better area! Thank You!
