I bought a grab bag of 10 dayliles for $10 just to see if they would suppress grass around several trees. When 3 of them bloomed late they were gorgeous but I missed photographing them. Weeks later I was in Lowes and fell in love with a Proven Winners Daylily that I wanted for my front flower beds. Imagine my surprise when I was walking by my grab bag dayliy and it turned out to be the same one from Proven Winners! I suspect Proven Winners was gearing up for a big gardening season, with the Covid, they must have decide it wasn't going to be good and sold them off cheaply. Crazy year! (I think 3 others were Blue Eyes and 4 had the scapes eaten by rabbits)

Now that I have found rebloomers and named varieties aren't that expensive, I have order more than just for grass suppression...you never know what hooks people into plants!

Annie Welcome! You have ventured into the land of no return. Most daylilies are inexpensive. A great source is the classified here. Please share some pictures when you get a chance.

Just to clarify, there is no such thing as a 'proven winners' daylily. They take old varieties of daylilies, put their label on them that says "proven winners' to make people think it is exclusively 'theirs' and you can't buy it elsewhere. Ruby Spider for example is an older variety. And it's great! It is offered by PW as part of their Rainbow Rhythm Series, but not 'theirs'. Most of their other plants are patented by them and you can not buy that variety elsewhere without that brand attached to it. But not the same with the dayliles they offer.
