I now have decided since I can't remember when there was a good rain (I think it has been almost 2 months), that I should water pachysandra, and am hoping that this will solve the problem. However, I noticed in other areas, the pachysandra is good....o.k. and not shriveled and wilted.

Watered yesterday, and noticed it might have made a very slight difference, and am going to try again today. The leaves in the pachysandra I try to get out as much as possible so the ground can get wet and not just the top pachysandra, but I don't know. Just seems "futile". Any body have any suggestions?

Pachysandra needs moist soil to thrive. It also needs shade or partial shade and will burn in hot or full sun. I think you've already figured out the problem with your pachysandra...it needed water.

I will have to keep an eye on the Pachysandra. Just the fact that it hadn't rained in 2 months (a good rain), made me think of the watering. Pachysandra has been known to survive (and come back hardy) under all kinds of conditions at times. It's when it gets a disease or fungus that I just don't know what to do. I think I was also surprised at Pachysandra being so shriveled and wilted (have never seen it this bad before).

Just like with the ground cover Lily of the Valley ; at times that gets diseased (for some reason , no matter how good care one takes of it, ) and it turns yellow and brown for the rest of season, but does come back healthy-looking in the spring. Who knows?

But the watering, at least that can be done, and the Pachysandra are not as wilted or shriveled. Like I mentioned, I will have to keep an eye on the Pachysandra....this watering should have been done weeks ago !! Thanks for your reply.
