It is indeed a deep blackish burgundy color. Can be quite striking and can be quite splotchy here. Nowhere near 34 inches here. Blooms are just above the foliage usually. Good grower.
Here are some good blooms. (I applaud those people who are willing to actually post some pictures of flawed blooms of cultivars on the database.)

Don’t trust all-purpose glue.

Thrip magnet in my garden. I get one or two unblemished blooms a year. They are lovely but nothing else in my garden gets close to the same amount of damage.

It can be splotchy on some days but a beautiful clear purple on others. it is all in all a keeper here in zone 6

Agree with most of the above, has settled in now, does ok, not as dark as ( ADS picture). But like stated , nice bloom when it is right. Worth having.will stay in my garden for a while.
