Thread OP
zone 7b Jersey Shore
I have a fig tree that is rootbound in a 30 gal. container. Is October ok to root prune it and cut it back. I will be giving it fresh soil and storing it in an unheated garage over winter, zone 7b, New Jersey. Any particular type of potting soil to use? Thanks

I believe you need to wait to root prune your fig tree. It needs to be completely dormant. Around Feb - March is when I typically root prune and infill the pot with a well draining good quality container mix and add a handful of slow release fertilizer and extra perlite. Mine are overwintered in my unheated attached garage here in zone 6b. Hope that helps.

Any other suggestions from fig growers?
