The last roses of summer.
Heritage and Rose Marie which is a white sport of Heritage. These old Austin's have stood the test of time around here.
Do you have any old Austin favs and what are the well known vigorous newer varieties?

Sometimes when I edit photos to be wider or narrower than they were originally they blow up like that and I don't know how to fix it. I now keep the original shot instead of replacing it with the edited one so I can post the original if required. Having said that, I love giant shots of blooms because I get to see them close up which is how I would view them in real life.

The oldies are very nice. Some of my favorite Austins date back to the early 1980s.

1982: Fair Bianca and Leander

1983: Tamora, Perdita, Lucetta, and Cymbaline

1985: English Elegance, my favorite Austin rose. It's less formal than most Austins and is almost impossible to find these days. I've tried to grow cuttings in case mine ever dies, but I haven't succeeded in growing a replacement. The difficulty of growing it from rooted cuttings might be the reason that it's never carried by own-root nurseries.

All lovely! Lovey dubby
2 of my ultimate Austin favorites are Constance Spry and Cressida.
St. Cecilia, Geoff Hamilton and Leander are hardy survivors for me as well.

Though it's not the most vigorous (at least, not on its own roots) I still love 'Prospero' It remains one of my top bloomers, and has great foliage.

Well my unedited photo didn't produce a smaller image when you click on it.
Maybe its because these are photos taken with my cell phone.

It is because the photos display with a size limit only on the width, which is 1000 pixels wide and yours are oriented vertically.
Your photos are not wider than any other photos, but, they are longer so they appear bigger because they are bigger --top to bottom-- than photos taken horizontally, or cropped square.

Don't worry about it--not a problem Smiling
