This Is My Home!

This was an ordinary seedling daylily which looked promising back in 2008. I was surprised to find this tiny frog had already staked a claim.

I'd guess that it is ingrained in our culture. The prince kissed a sleeping beauty; the princess kissed a frog - who then became a prince. Ergo, frogs are culturally seen as male at first glance. That's my theory . Leon can tell us what he thought since he saw it up close and personal.

Well said. Plus, it's green and bumpy with bulging eyes, and is hiding while I do the dishes. 'nuf said.

Thanks everyone for your inspiring words & comments. And thanks Cal for posting the above pictures. Waking up each morning here in summer is never boring; there is always something new and interesting. Our focus in our "senior" years has been to grow trees and plants which attract a variety of birds, insects and other pollinators. We had not counted on tree frogs, however they add a lot of interest. Here are a couple more examples.

The butterfly (Black Eastern Swallowtail?) is especially
pretty against the pink blooms.

Marilyn, No they are some of the tiny garden visitors known as "Chipping Sparrows".
They love it here in summer
