Who knows what these little guys (or girls) are? I was told years ago that they were "hens & chicks" of some kind??

These are not "hens & chicks".
They are some kind of Haworthia.
Possibly H. Cooperi.

The problem with Hens and Chicks is that some use this term to all kind of plants that clone similarly to sempervivum, I would assume due to the warm nature of that term, sounds cute.
It does seem to be some Haworthia species as OrchidBob says.

Definitely a Haworthia of some kind. Unfortunately I can't offer a species suggestion. I'm not too good with Haworthia ID...

And they're both boy and girl, as are most plants. Each flower has both kinds of naughty bits.
