I picked yellow cherry tomatoes this morning from my basement.

Thanks for starting the thread Rita. I was going to, but tradition for you to. nodding

Here's what I'm planning on growing so far this season. I know it's not as many different varieties that you all plan on growing. If anyone sees a particular type of tomato that is missing, I'd listen to recommendations.

Principe Borghese
Sun Gold II
Gramps (proprietary variety developed by my great grandfather)
Roma
Supersweet 100
Rutgers
Kelloggs Breakfast
Green Zebra
Dad's Sunset
Purple Russian
Chadwick Cherry

Just Dunne and Optima for me this year: they have proven their worth last year in very difficult conditions and I will be more than happy to repeat the experience. Hopefully the local nursery will continue selling Seminis and Syngenta seedlings so I don't have to drag myself all over the place to find them.

I'm having to order MG seeds earlier than I wanted to..... would y'all believe almost all the purple/ black tomatoes are already out in the company seedsnsuch? The only one I saw was purple Russian, and while I'm thinking of growing it for myself, I wanted to buy black Krim for the sale.,

I am not yet sure just what I am going to do regarding tomatoes yet.

Sun Gold- yellow/orange cherry (I)
Sakura- red, large cherry (I)
Peasant- a Russian heirloom Roma-type tomato, great for puree and sauce (D)
Moskvitch- a medium-small beefsteak, great taste (I)
Black Plum- dark red, wine flavor (I)
Black Cherry–vigorous, tasty (I)

Just found a packet of Supersweet 100 so I don't need to order online. Just 1 plant this year. So far.

I can only have one tomato on my patio. It's hard trying to decide on which one.
I'd like a yellow (not gold) container type that has the old-fashioned not sweet flavor, but I'm not sure if a tomato like this exists.
Anyone have ideas?

Kelloggs Breakfast or maybe Pineapple. I haven't grown either of them but Kellogg's is on the top tomato list here at NGA.

I think the pineapple is too big for a container. Look into Jubilee, Lemon Boy and Taxi. All of these Ive grown successfully in containers. As a general rule, yellow tomatoes tend to be much milder than reds and are much lower in acid, that's what helps give tomatoes that old fashioned flavor. Many yellows have a distinctly fruity note to them.

The Kelloggs Breakfast is my favorite yellow, but as Lynda suggested, Kelloggs doesn't have the red tomato flavor, but every time I had one last year I told myself it was the best yellow tomato I've ever had. I'm growing a yellow cherry tomato in the basement and have been harvesting it the last three weeks. Heavy producer.

The plant itself would need to be a manageable size. Thomas, what cherry is it?

I will be starting tomato seedlings soon, outdoor sowing in containers, 4 in 1. Celebrity, Sun Gold, Early Girl, Early Boy or Better Boy, whatever I have. I think I can pack 4 in this large container.

Sun gold is suitable for containers.
