I have three salvia that have been affected maybe by powdery mildew. They are evolution, victoria, and unplugged so blue. Can i wipe the plants down with rubbing alcohol, pull off all the leaves, or does chamomille tea do anything? I was hoping to cure them without having to buy any plant chemicals.

All of these are Salvia farinacea varieties. This species does best in low humidity climates, and in those places where there distinct seasons (think snow). In warm damp areas, especially when there is not a true cold season to force them into dormancy they are prone to all sorts of foliar diseases and tend to be short lived. The suggested control regime for commercial growers call for frequent application if several disease control products to prevent these issues. If a plant is badly affected it may recover if cut back very hard, but generally once these set in the damage is done.

Did my first experiment today. I noticed on the unplugged so blue that the leaves that have started growing towards the bottom looked normal. I decided to cut off all the branches that I could tell that were infected.

I've plucked all the infected leaves off of my Victoria. It does have some new leaves without the mildew on it

All my salvias have recovered on their own. They basically started putting out uninfected growth towards the bottom and i cut the infected parts off.
