My sister moved into a new place in north central Florida. She's trying to identify some of the plants and trees. Is this a leaf Tulip tree?

Thanks!

No sorry it is not Liriodendron. Common name Tulip tree.
See images below.
It may be Acer sp..but need more images to show a twig/whole tree.

Rose, can you get your sister to supply you with more photos; one showing the entire tree, a branch showing leaf arrangement and possibly an image showing a view of the bark?

Looked again at your pic.
Leaf looks very thick...leathery.
Is it evergreen? Rules out Acer pretty much!
We need more info....

This is the leaf from a tree that was pretty badly damaged in the recent storms. She separates the wood they burn, so she wanted to know if was soft wood or hard wood. I thought all deciduous trees were considered hardwood.

I'll see if she has any branches to show here.
Thanks!

The single leaf somewhat resembles Florida Maple (Acer barbatum)

A good image for comparison can be seen here: https://plants-archive.ifas.uf...

Thanks everyone, but now that I see why she asked the question I think we can end this discussion. She didn't mention the trees being damaged until later in the conversation, so if she can't figure it out she can just stack them in the junk wood.

How about an oak of some kind?
This leaf looks to have a good deal of heft to it, thick, rigid. I am thinking something related to scrub oak, post oak???
Maple is a possibility but I am wondering if maples have this kind of substance? I did not think that they did.
