I have had this daylily for many years and absolutely love it! It looks different each and every day......but always striped in some way. A must for those interested in this exciting look.

I added a single fan of this in the fall of '16. It was up to five fans by last year. So it's not weedy, but still does well. Even when I got it, I wasn't sure I was a fan of the striped plants, but I have to say I like both this one and Pink Stripes. They do look different every day, and it's fun to go out and see what the next day brings. Not that you buy this one for the stats, it grows close enough to the registered height. I'm getting 10 or so buds per scape, which isn't bad for up here.

I haven't been hybridizing with it as much as I thought I would, and I haven't done it enough to see it pass on it's stripes. I do have a seedling I really like from EitPF x Wispy Rays. I'm thinking about taking another try at stripes using that seedling with EitPF.

I'm definitely interested in this one and some of the other color break ones I've seen. I have Pink Stripes coming this year... maybe I'll spring for " Explosion" next year...

I received a single fan of Explosion in the Paint Factory two years ago from a friend who had grown it from a proliferation. It bloomed the first year, and in its second was a robust double fan with performance close to registered size, although not yet the number of buds.

The blooms are very showy, and really stand out in the garden, even from a distance. Each day there is a different presentation of the color break, stripes and dots, and the segments twist, cascade and sometimes spatulate. Buds are nicely spaced on a strong, sturdy scape, so large multiple blooms don't interfere with each other.

Reportedly the blooms are occasionally solid yellow, although I haven't seen that yet. Rich Howard, the hybridizer, says that he has seen an entire scape throw yellow blooms, but subsequently have that fan produce scapes with color break blooms.

EitPF has also won the 2019 RW Munson award for best patterned daylily, and the 2020 Lambert-Webster award for best UFo.

I've got a single fan of this beauty coming in spring from Abundant Daylilies on the LA. My excitement is embarrassing.

Beautiful seedlings Tim and Steve, feel free to trial some of your broken color seedlings in my garden. I'll send them back to you in a couple of years. Sticking tongue out

Hilarious! Charlie!

It's a great garden plant here in SW VA on the edge of zone 6/7. It also has that distinctive face , one which is different each day. 2020 was its 4th growing season here, it has made a nice clump and blooms show more UF form. In particular, the sepals show quite a bit of quilling, particularly on the warmest days. One scape this season threw solid yellow blooms at first. I put a string around the base of that scape to monitor closely. Toward the end of its bloom, it threw a broken bloom. A couple of friends had an entire fn bloom solid. They moved it, and it bloomed the broken pattern the following year.
Here are a couple pics from 2020.

I can add that too! Not only was he massively generous with the plants and fans and bonuses he gave me, he made sure I didn't leave his house on a 100 degree day without plenty of cold water and ice packs for the road.
I am finally getting this one this Spring ( thanks Char!) looking forward to putting it in a prominent place.

2022 update. I planted EITPF in the Spring of 2022, in a nice location. It rewarded me by blooming a little this summer, 6 blooms from July 26 to August 7. I really love it, I love all the stripy plants.

2023 update… a very nice bloom season this year, EITPF bloomed from July 21- August 18 with at least 20 blooms. It ended the season with 4 fans.
