I have an indoor majesty palm plant that has these weird white dots in the soil. It doesn't appear fuzzy and I haven't seen any mealy bugs. I do have a small problem with gnats in the plant that I've been trying to manage. Today my toddler grabbed a handful of soil with these white spots and tried to eat it. I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not because I have no idea what they are.

Looks like perlite. I would call Poison Control if you haven't already. I have read that small amounts ingested are not harmful but would confirm that with them. Hope all is well!

Thank you for your response. I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I don't think it's perlite, I've used the same soil in other plants and none of them have these spots in them. I mentioned in the original post that it doesn't appear fuzzy, but some of the clumps of these spots seem held together with a bit of fuzziness, if that makes sense. I don't think perlite is fuzzy at all.
