Good day, everyone!

First off, this is my very first post on this forum that I'm glad to have found :)

Secondly, I've got a few houseplants in my room but right now I'm interested if someone could help me out with my Kalanchoe humilis? (At first I thought it was a Kalanchoe marmorata as that's what a plant identifier app had told me, but I've googled a bit and now I'm sure mine's a humilis.)
I've uploaded a picture where you can see the whole plant - it's got some older, meatier leaves at the bottom with new branches and leaves sprouting, it also has two older branches which have been there since I got the plant (I'd like to add that I got it at a cheap price as the bottom leaves were rotting quite a bit and this was the last one in the whole store :D). Anyways, I cut those rotting leaves off and, as winter passed, the seemingly dry flowers on the branches had started sprouting new, much smaller leaves (also visible in the other pictures).
As you can see from the pictures, one of the branches started falling over and I'm not sure if there is enough room for all this new growth that's happening... I think I read somewhere that to propagate this plant all it takes is to cut off the stem above the leaf, so would that be a good idea - repotting just the fallen over branch?

I hope I didn't ramble on for too long and that you get my point. I'm open to any commentary; actually please do tell me if you think the plant is healthy or if it's missing something.

Thanks a bunch,
L

Hi & welcome! Are all of these stems connected to and part of a single entity?

Hi!
Yes, all of the stems are connected to a single entity in the ground.

I have this plant. I keep it compact by pruning it after every flowering.
I have found that coffee, tea, and rose can all agree on one thing... water everyday.

It is odd that some of the leaves are a completely different shape. I guess it could be etiolated and still bloom.

But to go back to the question, if this Kal behaves like others, the gangly stems where blooms were are temporary. Agree with removing them. The little growths at the tips should take root if laid on the soil surface. Is this your brightest available window?

This plant is definitely not getting enough light. The leaf shape might have something to do with that. I have seen that leaf shape on juvenile humilis plants.

Oh dear, I feel horrible knowing my plant is actually etiolated... This is an east-facing window, I was thinking of bringing the plant outside when the weather gets a bit warmer; would that be a good idea?
Also, I'm not exactly sure which parts I should prune - the entire two large stems with the flowers and then plant the small leaves from those stems in another pot?

If you try to transition it to outside, start with a spot where the sun will only shine on your plant for the first or last hour or two of the day to avoid sunburn. Gradually move toward more sun once a week or so.

If this was my plant, I would cut the stems at or near the red line, and again at the yellow line. You can stick these stems in the soil in the same direction in which they emerged from the plant, with at least 1" of the bottom end in the soil, or until leaves still attached to that part of stem are resting on the soil surface. Then you can cut the green tips, such as those in the black circles, and stick them in soil. Any remaining stem pieces that are firm have a chance of taking root and growing new stems but the spindly bits where the flowers were probably won't do anything.

If I understand correctly, I should cut off both old stems (but leave the new ones that are growing; as seen in the second picture?) at the red line and then cut those stems once more at the yellow line and plant them? Also should all the smaller leaves be put in a new pot or will they fall off if I leave them be?
Sorry for all these questions, but I don't wanna mess something up... I'm quite paranoid to snip away such large portions of the plant.

It's understandable to be nervous about doing something a first time. To ease your mind, you could start with one, then do the other if you appreciate the results. Individual leaves may not do anything but shrivel, but the little bits of stem at the tips with leaves attached have a good chance of growing into great new plants.

Just finished pruning it, hopefully some of it grows into new plants; I've attached an image.
I've put the two stems in the ground and left the leaves on one of them, just to save on space for now, but I've also stuck the other smaller leaf bits into the ground (with the little bits of stem, as you mentioned).

Since you've stated the plant is probably etiolated, I suspect my Burrow's tail is also, as it's on the same window (it seems to be producing new leaves though). I'm thinking of making a couple more posts about all my plants on this window, just to see if I should be doing something differently; among them is an Aloe vera plant, a cactus, the Kalanchoe and the Burrow's tail, as well as an ivy plant I keep in water and a small succulent tree.

And thank you so much for all the help!

That looks pretty close to what I would do. Look forward to hearing about & seeing your other plants. : + )

You might want to post about your other plants, except the ivy, in the "cacti and succulent" forum.

Hey, thank you for taking an interest! You've already seen the kal in another post of mine, but for an update (and its babies) you can check The thread "My plants are etiolated, aren't they - and an inquiry about grow lights" in Houseplants forum out!

Is your name Patty Duke, too?? 'Cause I'm feeling like we're twinsies... Thank you for this post! I've got a Kalanchoe as well that I thought was a Humilis (because that's what PlantSnap told me,) but seeing this and after the bit of research that followed, I think it's actually the Marmorata! Stranger than fiction...
