I've been really impressed with my Flying Trapeze. It has tall, sturdy scapes that often reach the registered height of 36" for me. The blooms are as advertised. The registered bud count is a crazy 30+, which is more rare than a two-horned unicorn up here Northern Illinois. Mostly I get 12-15, which is a reasonable number of blooms, here.

Shockingly, I haven't done crosses with Flying Trapeze, yet. This summer, though, I have this uniquely colored seedling that was born to be crossed with FT. So I have that going for me.

I have had Flying Trapeze for many years and agree that it is a great plant that pumps out lots of beautiful blooms on tall scapes.

It is a beautiful plant and flower that does not come close to the stats for us, but it's probably too shady where it is planted, so it needs to be moved to see if that will be an improvement--this fall it will find a new space and hope that will be a big improvement in performance. This one has a wonderful watermark, really makes it stand out.

It has beautiful blooms and has unique color. It is dormant here and has tall scapes and a good plant under the blooms.

Its merits have been noted--form, height, compelling color. However, I note from others' pictures that I am not the only one to have some scapes with as few as six buds.

All of my Tets that are still growing into bigger clumps will put up a couple shorter scapes with fewer buds. I didn't think that was uncommon.

MantisOH, I just started with 3 fans in 2019. I think I'm up to 8 this year, so it's still pretty young in my garden. In 2019, I only had three scapes, which had 11, 12, and 13 blooms. In 2020, all the later blooming plants suffered here. but I still averaged 8... so I definitely could have had a 6 or lower bloom scape last year. We had a significant heatwave and my town was in a moderate drought at the time. We're currently in a severe drought, here, so I'm expecting more disappointing performance. Maybe I'll see the low bud count scapes again.
