So things are getting pretty desperate space wise in the house. Plus as my collection grows watering is a nightmare as I am having to hand move all plants up and down the stairs. I dream about the simplicity of just watering the plants in situ Smiling . I had an idea to try a poly tunnel in the garden where the eventual site of a greenhouse might be. The only pace i have in the garden is against one side which is primarily east facing so morning sun until midday. As shown below

This way i can test the light i the location before putting down foundations etc. I know poly tunnels are not great for air movement so i thought i would go for 1 with a door at each end which i reckon i could leave open all summer.

the size i am looking at is 4m x 2m
Anyone have any view or experience of these? I would bring the plants in for the winter.

Desert plants of avalon(lynn) grew their plants in a polytunnel after moving to dublin(so at least the climate would be a match).
They used some electric heater + temp control with mixed results for overwintering. Think for summer they moved most outside. hmmmm
Do you want them out of the rain?

With regards to indoor watering we just got a couple of these for our houseplants:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0...

They have worked quite well and there is great flexibility with the watering schedule, also seems it easily expandable. It does require a water container.

thanks Stefan, Yes i could move outside weather permitting but TBH we don't have many days here when we don't get some threat of rain or wind. the tunnel would keep of the worst of the elements and increase the temp slightly in relation to outside. it is just lack of light that might be the problem

thanks Thijs, maybe this could be an option close to my indoor rack . I think 'the boss' might not like the pipes everywhere aesthetic though Hilarious!

You need to get the tubing and stuff in white (probably not possible). They do not look too bad, but they are definitely there.
