Native plants very important for our pollinators. I have been gardening with native Texas plants for 20 years now and learn something new and wonderful every day. We converted our yard to native plants and work with different organizations in order to preserve our plants and wildlife.
I now together with a group of like minded volunteers take care of 5 Pollinator gardens in the city of Arlington Texas.
We all need to do our part to make our world better for our children.
Here is a picture of my latest one.

That garden is stunning Joey! I'm sure the bees and butterflies of Arlington are benefited. Thanks so much for your volunteer time and huge efforts. By the way, hug your co-volunteers for me too : )
"My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird — equal seekers of sweetness. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand. Are my boots old? Is my coat torn? Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect? Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished." — Mary Oliver, from Messenger

Great article Cheryl, and a reminder to all of us that we need more native pollinator plants in our yards. I need to get some Joe Pye weed!!

I have a St. John's Wort shrub that I can literally hear the bees buzzing around because it is so thick with them. The Japanese beetles also love it but at least they are leaving my little rose bush alone... for now.

I refuse to buy any plant that says it has neonicotinoids in it and really look for that when I go to big box stores. I think some of them have phased that chemical out, but it is still out there.

That is the best gardening article on this topic I've read in a long long time. Super well-done. Highly informative and written so people will remember it. It sure is encouraging and gives us hope that we can all chip in and enjoy doing so. I really enjoyed reading this!

Kudos to you and your friends, too, Frostweed! Happy to hear all is well in Arlington!

Best to you and yours,
Shoe
