Hi everyone, I started some adeniums from seed a couple of years ago and after losing a few to the cold when the power was out for 5 days, I managed to save a few. For some reason the tips are dying on some of them and they're branching below the dead part. Does anyone know what the possible cause could be? Thanks

its stem rot ..... its caused by either too much water or too little

cut off the stem ....

all you want to see is white - if your cut is black, brown or tan make another cut - even if it means removing the other stem

allow cut to dry (keep dry from rain or watering )...new stems should emerge in about 30 days

Thanks James. I haven't been watering them regularly so that definitely makes sense. I'll cut off the dead stuff. I also have them in an area that gets full sun for a few hours, do you think that could be a factor too? Thank again for the fast response.

my plants sometimes do that after a long winter & limited watering once every 30 days ...stem tips get wrinkled ...but sometimes a watering will reverse the wrinkles - like it never happened

might add ...another cause of what you are seeing is freeze damage ...but the fix is the same ...remove all dead stuff, and anything that isn't white

as for sun ...full sun ...would help your plant ....my plants get partial sun from about 9am - then full sun from about 11am to around 7pm ...

Ok I'll do that because I'd hate to lose them. I was shocked aby survived because my house was below freezing for 5 days. I think I lost 2 or 3 of the small ones but the others survived. I'll move them into full sun. Thumbs up

do stem "surgery" asap ....it will get a lot worse as it spreads, maybe even loose the plant

ease into full sun ... like only a few hours a day, first few days ... half day a few days after ...should be fine after

had that same freeze ....except, never lost power ....to keep pipes from bursting, I turned off the water at the street ...so, didnt have water for 8 days ...

I'll do is asap. I can't believe you were without water for 8 days, that's horrible. Pur neighbor's pipes burst but thankfully ours didn't. We were able to stay with a friend for a couple of days since she never lost power.
