After a night with thunderstorms the heat wave has ended and on this first of July still everything is delayed, but a lot of FFO's opened today:

Sue, all I can say is Wow! over that Noria! What a beauty:)

Nan, don't you just love Susan Weber! Mine hasn't started blooming yet. Love those late bloomers!

Jill, you take such great pictures! Drooling over Pink Panther Paws, Mister Mayor, and others! Makes me want to add to my garden even though I am just plain out of room. Geezsh, what a dilemma.

Getting ready to go to the dentist (Yuk), but got some pics during a light rain a little bit ago. More rain to come, yeah!
Right now, I want to feature three of the four daylilies I got from hybridizer Ginny Pearce in Michigan. I love every one of hers and if you get any of these, you won't be disappointed! I missed getting the FFO of her Flutterfest and it is raining too hard now.

The overcast skies really helps bring out the saturation in daylilies, but these look exactly like this in person!

Jill - Hallie Mae Webb is a pretty one I've never seen before. Every time I see your Pink Panther Paws, I wonder why I don't have that one. I have Mister Mayor and really like it. I can't wait for it to clump up.

Nan - Susan Weber is so pretty. I grew it in pot for many years before it died one winter.

Lovely pics, everyone. About Susan Weber, I do love the colors. My clay soil seems to affect it a bit sometimes. Later blooms sometimes turn orangey as the day goes on. This is its second bloom this year. I bought Susan Weber before I knew about daylily rust, and apparently it's susceptible. So far, so good, though. It's increasing slowly, but the blooms are so lovely that I will keep it for now.

Crabby Old Man, morning shot:

First flower from small fans (multiple single fans) obtained this spring. I am amazed such small fans can produce flowers so rapidly, I was expecting this one next year! It is amazing the lack of correlation between fan-size and ability to make flowers (I have some HUGE new fans of other cultivars that are doing nothing). These Crabby Old Man fans were literally as thin as your middle finger or pinkie. Patricia Weller is a magician, weaving fairy-dust into her creations I tip my hat to you. . The bonus fan she also sent (her High On Summertime) already has a big scape, I will no doubt be showing a photo of that soon.

Anyhow, this flower is shown in sun and part-shade. Note how dark it gets in the shade, as expected. A thunderstorm stopped me taking any more pictures of other conditions. (But I did get to snip off and store the pollen-bearing anthers before the rain).

I went out to get a picture of the fourth daylily that I own from Ginny Pearce. Flutterfest was exactly that the past two years. All abuzz with blooms for about two weeks. It got at least 4-5 way branching and close to 35-40 buds. The blooms aren't anything fancy or flashy, but what a beautiful garden plant. It is now in its 6th year here and has 11 fans.
I am hoping for the same "flutterfest" this year.
