Most of my Japanese irises are infected with some kind of fungus this year. I don't have any experience treating iris foliage that's affected like this, and don't know if it's hopeless at this point. Does anyone have any advice? I would appreciate it so much!

Sorry I don't grow JI, but I can see if an ISM member can suggest something.

Just from what I see you should pull one and inspect it for bore holes that could be borer

Lucy, thank you so much! Arilbred, I will try that and see. It looks like a surface fungal infection to me, but who knows.

Asked Matry & Jan at Joe Pye Weed garden. They say that they would need a photo so please post at their website [email protected] & they will take a look. Jan says that Japanese usually don't get fungus.

Lucy, thank you so much. I really appreciate that, and how kind of Marty & Jan to offer help. I will take some more close-ups and email them. Hopefully they will recover. Thank you again!

They of course know how irises react in New England, being a MA garden specializing in beardless iris. We are both members of ISM (Iris Society of MA).
