I just wanted to post a couple of pictures of my Pride of Barbados seedlings. Its so nice to see seedlings this time of year. I've been so eager to plant something.

That's a fair sight! Beautiful seedlings and they will make beautifully firey orange/red blooms this summer.

Thanks Dave. I really look forward to the orange/red blooms. There were a few sleet pellets this morning to remind me of Winter lol.

Those flowers are amazing. The blooms are definitely fiery. Do you know how long it takes Pride of Barbados to bloom from seed?

It should certainly bloom the first year, if conditions are right! They love the sun and they like good fertile soil.

I have a few sunny spots where I can plant them. I raked some old leaves into a new flowerbed, then I'll add some composted cow manure. I went outside today and my bluebonnets sprouted. I planted the seeds 8 days ago, so I wasn't expecting them to sprout so soon.

I love POB! I have several in my butterfly bed they are absolutely stunning in bloom. How did you start your seeds? I nick mine and then set them in a moist paper towel wrap it in cling wrap and then stick it between my aquarium light and the glass and the seeds sprout pretty quickly.

Great tip, Sherill. I do a similar method but not using an aquarium.

I hope my seedlings bloom this year. So far they are growing great, and producing a few branches. I nicked mine and soaked it in warm water and peroxide for two days. I changed the water a few times each day. I have a basking light for my turtle but I got rid of a piece of the hood where I usually set seedling containers.
