I sit at a breath over 6000ft, so, for most of the country, we're classified as the High Country. Makes for hell in trying to bake a cake.. if you don't add extra flour & water, they always either volcano or sink.

Anyways, I finally finally finally have some blooms worthy of a real parade! Yay for me! Smiling I will need help with one of these roses.. the tag I put faded from the snow. Sad Anyways, these shots are over a 4 day period. I was in the hospital with surgery on Friday the 17th, so I didn't do much, and it rained off & on the whole weekend so everyone's a bit waterlogged. So you'll see pictures from various days.

These are in alphabetical order and not by order of front yard/back yard/side yard. Everything's mulched, so it's harder to distinguish easily anyways. The red mulch will be the pond area. The front yard sits perfect north, the back yard is south & east, and the side is pure west. Side is pretty heavily shaded in the morning, so I think that's why I lost a few there. Sad There are very few shots from the back/side due to me not going out there this weekend much. I'll try to get more tonight depending on how I feel (yesterday I felt like crap).

Now my mystery. The tag faded due to snow washing it away (hand-written tag). I know it's a hybrid tea and I know that it's in "mauve" family, because in this section I put only "blue" roses there. But there are way too many to go through! Any suggestions? Not very thorny, smells spicy.

Enjoyed your parade, Toni! I am amazed at how quickly your roses put up blooms, considering you have not had warmth for that long. Our flush was just a couple of weeks ago and we've been up in 90s for over a month.
Your mystery rose looks halfway familiar to me. I'll check mine tomorrow to see if anything looks just like it.

Well, it's not Hawkeye Belle, but it's certainly pretty.

I don't think that's Tropicana. Tropicana's not really brilliant orange. It's more salmon than orange and it has a very strong scent.

Very nice Toni, I can hardly wait to get all mine in the ground and have them take off. I still have to raise some beds and add compost, a little at a time.

ERk, not Golden Celebration, Golden Masterpiece (I have 3 of them?). Oh well, I don't have Golden Celebration.. tried growing it once and it croaked almost immediately so I decided no on that one. LOL

Anyways, new pictures for today. Today's been a hot as hell day.. in the mid 90s I swear. I had to do some major rework on my mulch (used crappy weedblock fabric which I had to rip all out and put down good weedfabric, and I am suffering from it now with the extreme heat. I was smart and put a bandana around my forehead to capture all the sweat and didn't wear my glasses.. and when I came in about an hour and half later, I was able to squeeze about 1/4 cup of sweat out of the bandana (GROSS!!!). But I did get most of my work outside done before 1pm, and started working on the inside.. I must have been a totally evil person in a previous life because I definitely get NO rest! LOL!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I took some pictures around 11am this morning of some of the nicer looking roses in the side/back yard. The front yard is just totally abloom .. all but 2 roses are actually blooming so it's looking super sweet. But, with the heat of the day, most of the blooms went BLEH so I wasn't able to get a good shot this afternoon of the whole yard. I'm aiming for a whole-yard shot this Wednesday before it hits 100+ on Thursday. So here's some pix. And before anyone comments on how lush & green the foliage looks without a speck of blackspot anywhere.. realize that it's because we haven't had any decent moisture really this year (we're still heavily in a drought) and I haven't watered the yard in over a week. We got some rain last weekend (17-19th) of about an 1"+, but that's almost it for the entire month. So, yes, no blackspot. But at the same time, my water bill is ridiculous.

Last parade for June.. I doubt I will have anything more interesting to picture tonight or tomorrow (but you never know!) Few new blooms in this series, too. The heat has been oppressive this week, mid to upper 90s, which is miserable due to the altitude. I fed & watered extremely heavy on Sunday, it was cool (mid 70s) on Monday, so everything was ready for this heatwave to roll through (supposed to end on next Tuesday with a week of rain.. but they've been pushing the rain back daily now! Before the weather people said rain on Saturday the 2nd.. now it's all the way to Wednesday before rain???? *cries*). However, I will be watering extensively again this weekend before 4th of July.. I want all my mulch to be soaking wet because I know there will be fireworks going off everywhere and I really don't need my yard full of kindling to go POOF!

Anyways, on to the pictures.

Zuzu - became incredibly depressed last night. Had to go to Wallyworld rather late (930) and when we pulled into our driveway, looked up into the stars like I always do. Saw Scorpio (my astrological sign). That means that I'm half-way through my growing season. That sucks big donkey pelotas. Sad Seems like I just got started and it's almost half way done??? Sad Sad Sad

Well, here's hoping you come into a large pile of money and can build a big greenhouse for off-season gardening.

Now there's an idea!
Great to see so many new ones Toni, loved your Julia Child comment but don't you know that she was an avid fan of butter?! So the name does fit. Rolling my eyes.

Sue - Never watched either her or Paula. Don't watch any television at all (haven't been "on the grid" since Nov 2010) and my mom didn't watch cooking shows when I was growing up & Julia was on TV. Just knew that she liked to sample her "cooking" wine a little too much and that she was a hoot to be around.

OK, I lied. When I got home I noticed that some of my perspective buds had opened, so I just had to snap them. Camera battery was DOA, so I used my phone. For the most part, these are all true-to-color.
