Vanda David Gardner opened a nice spike. This is the now the large keiki which I had separated from the mother plant years ago, and I am so glad this one is doing ok. It seems the mother plant is declining this Winter. Perhaps even-long lived Orchids don't live forever and this one had charmed me for over/ca 20 years.
Ascda Peddler's Velvet Gold next to it is still blooming after many weeks.
Vanda Martha Ragan blooms on two spikes with a very grey sky today as background
Potinara Fairyland is a cutie
Vandirea Newberry Jasmine continues to open on a nice sturdy plant with good roots.
And shooting across is the Den Luz del Dia 'Kiilani', the last picture shows the correct color as the light conditions were a lot better a few days ago when I had taken that picture.
Ursula, thanks for the nice start to March. I love the Vandirea Newberry Jasmine and the Potinara Fairyland. I spent this morning at the Tampa Bay Orchid Society's show and sale but only bought three. I may not even have to give the buying shoes an oil change. I've been trying to sort out the show pictures this afternoon as some of the posts I thought I made instead drifted off into cyber space. Frustrating. I opened a new "I Just Bought" thread for my purchases. I'll also open a thread for the show pics.

I just did a photo shoot in the OC. It's cold outside today with a north wind whipping about. The temp in the OC is 62, which is cool for this time of day. They are calling for a Sunday night low in the upper 30s. Brrrr.
I'll start out with species Epi. stamfordianum which hails from Belize. It puts out a nice fragrance.
Next up is Dendrobium Burana 'Green Star'. I love the color on this one.
Holy cow, Jim.
Your Epi. stamfordianum is definitely different from my soon to open one. Love the Maxillaria setigera. So happy it's Max. season! I'm working on OrchidWiz to figure out the one with 4 names. So far Lc. Jungle Elf 'Space Leopard' X C.Penny Kuroda=Spoz Tabee Splash but this x doesn't have any official offspring.
Step out for a few hours ( 6 hours Parsifal! Wagner must have smoked something when he wrote that opera. ) and there is a whole OC Show going on! Looking great, Jim!
Regarding the tag, the punctuation is simply off.
Thanks, Ursula. It is 50 degrees with a gusty wind out of the north right now. I've seen low temperature estimates down to 37 for tonight. The OC windows have been closed all day. Tomorrow starts the warm up. Brrrr!

Jim, your weather is starting to sound like mine! I'll bet you have decided that all that $ you invested in the OC was well worth it! Of course you don't get the work out you used to get, hauling the 'chids in and out of the garage.
Can you tell I'm green with envy?
I checked Andy's site about Lycasts, because I really like the one you're looking for. He only has one Mexican one that is temp. tolerant out of all the species so I guess it wouldn't work here. Darn! I really like that one too.

I'll post the few I have in bloom so this thread will come up.The blc Fritz Nichlaus 'spring dance' has finally opened. The closest thing to 'Floof" that I have My old green Cym only has 2 spikes this year
what Maxi. picta lacks in size , it makes up in number of blooms. Burr. Nelly Isler 'Swiss beauty' and Milt. Lennart Karl Gottling are fully open now.
The OC is wonderful and the orchids are loving it. I would never be able to move the collection I have now.
That Lycaste stopped me dead in my tracks when I spotted it. It was one of the vendors that had put it on display. I talked to them but it is the only one they have and they would not even consider selling it. If they would have had several smaller plants to sell, they would have cleaned up.
I was looking for it on the web tonight when I came across Larry's Orchids and Tropicals. They have an Odontoglossum Geyser Gold 'Okika' for under $10.00 and they say 'blooming size', whatever that means. There is a picture of the flower and it is not the same but very nice. I went ahead and ordered it. Go here: http://www.larrysorchidsstore.... It's the 12th one down.

Beautiful show, Carol. My little start of Gerberara Snow Ballet has two spikes, I discovered today - The Weed will not be denied!
Sounds like a lucky find there, Jim. Not a big risk for what could be something really great.
Here's a shot of my kitchen visitors, Lc. Richard Mueller, Howeara Lava Burst 'Puanani', Onc. Ester Oka 'Lake View' and Bl. Yellow Bird. Can't stand for those pretty blooms to be out in the cold tonight.

Lots going on, Carol! The Max picta is awesome! I can't bloom that one for beans! Any secrets?
'Spring Dance" is a beauty!
Regarding one of the showy Lycaste - have you looked at Cal -Orchid? http://www.calorchid.com
James Rose brought some in bloom to last year's Silva Open House, they were really gorgeous.

Ursula, I checked Andy's just to see what the growing needs are. They all were listed as intermediate temps with the exception of the one Mexican form. I can't control the climate here. As to Max picta, top shelf and neglect
Ceci, welcome to our main thread! Settle in and get comfortable. By the way, I spent 8 years living and traveling in South America and my wife is from Peru.
Ursula, thanks for the lead. I'll check it out right after this post.
Carol, nice center piece for your table! I love your Max. picta.
No freeze or frost last night so all of the tropicals are fine. 53 degrees in the OC this morning. The windows are open now and the plants are enjoying some fresh air.
Ada Keiliana X Odm. triumphans is blooming nicely. I love the markings.
Bollopetalum Midnight Blue 'Cardinal's Roost' has opened both flowwers.
My Dendrobium nobile hybrid is covered with blooms with the first of them just opening. The plant is three to four feet high and about that wide. I'm not sure I can get it to a show.
