Sarasota florida. Zone 10. Found this large pink flower, about the size of my hand growing with long leafs under a tree in very wet area. It's is growing among pineapple plants and various others someone had planted. The area was left to go wild a few years back.

The flowers look like they have long pink outer petals, with an array of some other shape inside. Need to zoom in. Couldn't get a closer pic.

Welcome!
Your photos are of a Bromeliad. The Bromeliad in your photos are Billbergia pyramidalis (AKA Flaming Torch Bromeliad).
Here is a quick photo of my wild patch coming into flower now.

Billbergia pyramidalis can be grown as a epiphite. I grow it terrestrially only and it a quick spreader making for a good companion with other tropical plants.

Scott, Beautiful!! Do those bloom once per year for a very short time?

What a change! I moved to AL from OH and am still surprised by the plant differences. Especially the bloom times of same plants.

It's so different, isn't it? My hubby grew up farming with horses. Taught me a lot of tips for ohio weather. At least akron/canton area. If there is no dew on the grass in the morning, more then likely you will see rain in the next day or two. Also, and this one has proven true for me.... you will hear the tree frogs, then they'll stop because it gets too cold. Once they do this 3 times, you usually won't get any more frost until fall.

I usually get the "full" flower show anywhere from late August to the middle of September. I will occasionally see one flowering alone any time during the summer months.
The inflorescence lasts about a week.

Fascinating, thank you! I have a similar plant 'Foster's Striate' that blooms in Feb. or March.
