I tried to start two Roses from stalks I got from my friend, I
did what you showed planted them in a one gallon pot and put a Soda bottle over, Was I to keep them wet all the time ?
Well should it be in Sun? Mine died ? Do you plant in deep soil or just to cover the bottom?

As John said you want to keep them moist but not soggy wet. I don't put any covers on mine. I just put them right out in full sun and water daily. Do you know which varieties he gave you? There are some varieties that are easier to root than others and there are some that just won't root no matter what you do. Did you use any rooting hormone? That will help.

. NO I didn't use any root help and I got he stems from a friend so don't know what ROSE IT WAS.

OK just watch the water so they don't dry out or rot and keep trying. rooting cuttings takes practice
