Planted August 2020, I got some nice blooms out of it this year.
Considering that this were two tiny shriveled fans from G Wild, they have settled in very nicely. I got 23 blooms beginning July 3rd and ending August 17. It's a short plant but perfect for the front of the border
After struggling in TX I moved it to MI a couple of years ago where it finally performed. Over 60 days 1st to last bloom. Best scape this year 28 inches (dry scape) 24 buds 4 well-spaced branches.
I've had Huckleberry Candy a LONG time ago. It is a very reliable grower/bloomer here in USDA Zone 7a/b. It has a lot of "blue" in the flower, and is pretty consistent in it's color and size. It has a nice long scape that carries the flowers well above the foliage. 3 to 5 branching and lots of buds makes this one a great display plant, which is typical of the Candy series. It readily produces seed and can go either to full form, or UF, depending on the other parent in the cross. Though it is up there in age, I will still keep it---cause I like it---and I'm up there in age, too. lol
This wasn't especially floriferous in 2022. Only 11 flowers from July 1-23. Not sure what the problem is. The location is good. Maybe too much competition?
@Zoia, @Eagleriver, @SunriseSide, @Sscape, any thoughts on how tall Huckleberry Candy gets? After seeing that Huckleberry Candy is only supposed to get 20" tall, I'm not sure if what I had was HC. Mine got taller than that. I am not going to do a full review just yet since I got this from a neighbor, but will post a few pictures and hope that others will chime in as far as how tall it gets for them.
There seems to be a lot of variations in color in the database. I haven't had this since 2018, so won't be able to check it out this year.
