Hi,
We were out for a couple months and it seems our hibiscus places are covered white. I am pretty sure it's not due to lack of water since we have automated water sprays so I would love some inputs since we are pretty new to gardening.

Edit: we live in northern California if that helps.

Does it rub off? Worst case of leaf miners ever?

Thanks for the suggestions. I did get a termite inspection done and it is not termites. Some part of it does rub off when i use a blower on the leaves.
Adding water also helps but then it comes back again - they do seem some sort of insects that fly when i use blower. Adding more images.
I tried using baking powder and water mixture as suggested online somewhere - didnt help much.

I am wondering if it's combination of two things - possibly live that leave behind some some other residual items? The termite guy had no idea either.

We have a winner here. Thumbs up

If you have a cold water pressure washer, it's the best remedy against Giant whitefly: wash your plant throughly with it.
Hibiscus has no problems getting a bit manhandled and losing a bunch of leaves in the process.

That indeed seems like the right answer. I went through the links - used water from pressure washer and was able to wash off the giant flies. I also sprayed some dishwasher liquid diluted with a lot of water on leaves - hopefully they dont come back!
Thanks for helping guys - you all are awesome
