Still looking great at your place Ursula!
I'm still wrestling with 6mm plastic , wiggle wire and stick on zippers.
Zippers went on upside down Blinking how hard can it be?
Meanwhile a few new photos while I procrastinate.

This Bc. Star Ruby'Xanadu' is blooming for the first time.

Blc. Edisto 'Newberry' x Blc. Mem. Crispen Rosales 'Behold'

Bc. Star Ruby is always a treat to see! Thumbs up

Can't remember off hand what Edisto looks like but I see Crispin Rosales in the background! Big petaled purples often, most have large open lips. Typically Fall bloomers with extremely delightful scents. Lovey dubby

8" flowers are not unusual.

Lindsey, both are gorgeous! Lovey dubby
Hopefully you need to wrestle with that zipper some more? Smiling
Joke aside, perhaps you can convince a friend to help along? Some pieces are just cumbersome to handle alone.

This is my latest Paphiopedilum to bloom! I am trying to contact Sam Tui at the Orchid Inn in Indiana in an attempt to find out if this hybrid has been registered yet. Unfortunately I have a computer issue again and I can not look it up! Unless some one else can find it?!

Thumb of 2021-11-03/BigBill/c212b5

This is a hybrid of (Paph. Bellatrix X Paph. bellatulum 'Best Spots') X Paphiopedilum bellatulum 'Best of 16'. Will you look at those spots!!! No need to describe the color. These images are true!
The flower measures 6.3 cm. wide by 6.8 cm. vertical. The plant has almost doubled in size since I bought it in early June. Petals are very round 3.9 X 5.2 cm. Pouch is 2.0 cm. wide by 3.4 cm. Vertical.
Leaves are dark green with loads of gray tessellations. I show it in a 3 1/2" square plastic pot. It is growing in bark/charcoal/ perlite. Overall leaf spread measures 22.3 cm.

Now seriously friends, who wouldn't want this in their collections??? These are long lasting flowers too in case I hadn't mentioned that. The Paph. Otogozen flower that I showed you a few weeks ago is just now starting to go after 10+ weeks!!!!

Well I hope to hear from Sam. Maybe he will know.
Otherwise if it goes to judging and gets awarded, that's where the fun begins! If he is the hybridizer, then that becomes much easier. Wouldn't it be cool if he lets me register it?!?!? That would be so sweet!! Without an accepted, registered name, it is held as a Provisional Award for 12 months. If there is no name at that point, the award is rescinded. Boo

Perhaps something like Paphiopedilum Ocelot????

You got a Cattleya maxima as a bag baby? WOW!!!
I really like all of these but I am intrigued with Waianae Leopard X Why Not. I mean, The leopard is a nice round spotted flower in great colors AND Why Not is a little cutie with those yellow discs. Look at what came out!!! Man oh man! A gorgeously colored golden yellow flower, a little red blush, full petals and a great lip.
I would love to see that on a judging table!!!!

Oh goodness, I can understand if we don't see something of both parents in a cross. But I see an opened up arrangement of flowers. Waianae Leopards have a tendency to be bunched and crowded, the Why Not influence has spaced the blossoms better.
Now when we consider a complex hybrid, it is hard to predict what will come forward. But these flowers here have very good form from what I can tell, better arrangement then the Leopard and much larger blooms then the Why Not.

I venture a guess that a good 6-8 basic flower patterns came out of the pod. No way will they all be similar to just one flower.

This is my other Waianae Leopard x Why not flower.
This one I can see the parents in.
But even if the other is mis labeled.. I will make room for it!

There are those pesky genes again. That first flower you showed has kind of the Waianae lip. So does the second flower. That's kind of the beauty of the hybrid. These rounded, full, colorful blooms are sweetly fragrant. Those warm tropical colors are very nice.
The red variety is another beautiful flower! They would be welcomed in anyone's collection.
I just thought of this too. Look at Penny Kuroda. There are several variations of this hybrid which is a parent of Waianae Leopard. I personally love them all! What is the old saying, "Variety is the spice of life!!!"

I am an unabashed Cattleya Junkie!!!! Lovey dubby Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
I need some serious help.
But this is the exact reason I adore them so! If I didn't love them so much I would grow skunk cabbages!!! Rolling on the floor laughing Thumbs up
