Hi, everyone my name is marnie. I was in a WONDERFUL swap last season hosted by Thomas. I see a lot of old friends here... (hi guys) and hello to all my new gardening pals!

Anyhow, that was my first swap, so I just wanted to make sure that I got it right still. It went on for a long time and this one is only a week and so I was just wondering ... (so that I can star my wishlist accordingly) ... how many dibs we will get on each day? Is it the same as the other swap like 1 dib on day one and then 2 on day 2 and so on? Also, will all seeds be dibbed on eventually like in the other swap? Sorry if these questions are already obvious somewhere. Trying to navigate the tree mail is still tricky for me, lol. Looking forward to another fun swap!

This swap will not be a multiplier of one per day. I have got to look at the numbers and the final list of players before deciding but it will be at least four on day one which means it will be 8 on day two and so on.

I'll be sending out a group email to remind people that the swap starts and just a little bit because there are people that aren't visiting daily..

Okay, we have so many seeds entered into the swap that I am going to make the multiplier 6.

Marnie, I do not know for sure if that will make every seed packet be sold but it's a nice multiplier for a small swap.

This will be a six day swap, starting on Nov 29, 2021 6:00 PM CST and ending Dec 5, 2021 6:00 PM CST. If we start out with at least four dibs on day one, by day six we will be dibbing 24 packs of seeds... which means we will each end up with at least 84 packs of seeds.

It's going to be fun!! As usual!!

Hi @greenishpinky, so good to see you again in this swap. I was a newbie last year and understand how you are feeling but everyone here is so good about helping. You are correct each swap is a little different in the duration, requirements and how the dibs are distributed but the day of the swaps it is the same. I have found that wish listing my priorities and just dibbing until I run out works for me. Since you were already in one you saw that it will tell you when you are out of dibs. Then you wait to see if you get more dibs from items you "sold", so you can dib a few more. I look forward to swapping with you again.

Another quick question...

I thought I had the multiplier factor down, but everyday, there are way more dibs available than I expected (I guess I'm not really good at math) lol

Anyhow, I was hoping someone could tell me the number of dibs available for tomorrow and then for the last day?

I FINALLY have some time to really invest in researching the seeds on my wishlist and I want to make priority the ones that will actually grow best for me in my zone.

Nothing bums me out more than buying plants or toiling over seeds that just die. I can have 1000 successes but one dead plant and I feel like a complete failure.

I can't say that I've ever payed attention to the later days of how many tickets I get in a swap. It changes because when you sell seeds you earn more tickets so I just five star the ones I really want and go down the list.

Re: How many tickets:

So each day we get a number of tickets automatically according to the amount set. This swap was set at six for day one and it goes up six each day the swap goes on; so on day 6 you will get 36 tickets.

On top of the automatic amount of tickets, you will also receive a bonus-fraction of a ticket for each item you "sell". This fraction starts at .5 tickets for the first day and goes down after that.

I had to go back and look at how the bonus points go and I found it! This is how the bonus tickets are set up:

On day 1 you get 0.5 tickets for each item you sell.
On day 2 you get 0.34 tickets for each item you sell.
On days 3 and 4 you get 0.20 tickets for each item you sell.
Starting with day 5, you get 0.10 tickets for each item you sell.

Calculating how many tickets you get doesn't help when the hostess changes the multiplier mid swap. :rofl:
It was a spur of the moment decision and hopefully nobody minds.



I changed the multiplier to 8 yesterday because there's so many seeds still available. I'm pretty sure that everyone else is like me and does not want to have to file back seeds that you've packed for this swap.

Should be 48 tonight. Earned tickets won't amount to much at this point.
I have awesome seeds to start. I set up my indoor grow area last night in anticipation.

Ah, now it makes sense. I can't stand it when I can't understand things and I just couldn't figure out how I was calculating. But the multiplier changed to 8! Now it makes more sense. Thanks guys!

Heads-up for @Greenishpinky -- If my counting on my fingers is accurate (because this is a 6-day swap), tonight will be the last night we receive tickets. Dibbing ends the instant before 5 p.m. (Mountain Time) tomorrow/Sunday. Just thought I'd mention this because in my very first swap, I thought I had one more second than I did

If my math is wrong, could someone please let us know?
