Who wants Daylilies and/or Hardy Hibiscus? I have way more than this swap needs, so I'd like some input. There are Daylily bee pods (one named parent) and crosses (both parent plants are named) and mainly crosses of hardy hibiscus. Although the offspring don't always resemble the parents, for example, if you want red daylilies, two red parents increase your chances some.

The Hibiscus come in whites, light pinks, dark pinks and reds. They can have green leaves or dark leaves. Some are about 2 feet tall and compact and some are 4 foot tall and make a nice centerpiece. There's at least 100 crosses for me to choose from, so please help me narrow it down some.

The daylilies come in "mini's" and regular size. I have Diploids and Tetraploids. There's too many color possibilities to list them all, but if you give me some idea of what you like, I can look for parents that match. There's about 150 to choose from, so again, please help me narrow it down some.

This is the first swap they will be offered in this year, and there's 10 of us, so for those who are interested, you'll be getting first pick. Green Grin!

I have never tried to grow daylilies from seed. Will they bloom the first year or does it take longer than that for them to mature to bloom stage? So cool that you get so many hybrids!
I have tried growing hibiscus from seed but never hybridized my own. Would love some of yours!
Maybe white, dark pink and red ones would be fun for me to dib on!

Maryjo,
Some daylilies will bloom the second year and some the third year. The seeds need cold stratification, or can be wintersown.
I'll post pictures of the parent plant(s) with the daylily and hibiscus seed offerings.

Diana,
I have never tried growing daylilies from seed but I tried winter sowing for the first time last year and I loved it. I would love to try some this year.

Anybody have any tomato seed requests? I'm thinking of buying some new seeds and wondering if others have certain ones they're looking for?

Hi! I'd love to try Juliet tomatoes if they interest you. I also want to grow sungold again. They were the best producers for me and the tastiest! :D Other than that, I'm looking for some earlier rather than later maturity tomatoes, suggestions appreciated!

Thomas, thanks for clearing up the confusion on listings/rules. I've moved my DnD swap listings over to your swap. I have alot of seeds to share so was. Thanks for offering to host the swap. I think that the rules are put in place for some swaps so that the same listings aren't used over and over again -- and/or to make a swap different than the last -- and there's more variety and/or sometimes less common seeds, which is always appreciated once you've grown for a number of years.

I'll be listing daylily bee pod seeds from about 50 varieties of daylilies today, plus as many hibiscus types as I can get packaged and counted by tomorrow evening. I got busy with other things, but I hadn't forgotten my promise.

@DraDiana OMG you always have the most delicious Daylilies! I'd LOVE to tour your garden when they are in bloom!

I've collected quite a few from you and others who are so gracious to share on these swaps. Thank You!

I don't know how long the seeds are viable for, but this year, I think I'm in a position to be able to start all that I have. oooo ooo ooo can't wait Big Grin

Karen,
I have a confession to make - the beepods (about 100 of them) were a gift from another NGA member who doesn't seed swap, but loves the idea that her babies get homes all over the place. She does give garden tours. She has about 700 varieties, so the pollen parents could be about anything.
I hand pollinated and bagged this year, but haven't had time to count, bag and label them. So look for more varieties in the next swap! There's also a pile of mixed seed due to a puppy spree about 2 days before I was planning to collect a bunch of them. Glare

Just found this thread and am going to review the Hibiscus tonight. I am an avid Winter Sower and will research the Hibiscus a bit, as I love the one I grew this year and have some new garden space in which to try them. Thanks for the info about them.

If anyone has some Coral Nymph Salvia seeds, let me know. I hope I've saved some, but haven't plowed through my garden pots to find the seed pods that are drying. Glad to trade more than is on my list. Just feel free to check my profile if I have anything in which I might have seeds. (Just not red bee balm, there's a story on that one.)

Deborah,
No matter when you sow hardy hibiscus outdoors, they will not come up until the ground stays nice and warm. That's late April to early May here in zone 6.
Starting them indoors about now and putting them out after all danger of frost is past works nicely. The advantage to this is that they may flower this year instead of holding off until next year. Scarify the seeds and the should come up in a few days. They love wet feet. They are bog plants originally.

@tabbycat, can you give me advice on how to germinate your gloriosa Lily Vine seeds? I've purchased them online many times and received a pack from you in 2019 and I am unable to get them to germinate. Any help would be appreciated!
