This is one of my favorite plants in the garden. It's right by my front door, so I see it every day before I go out to do anything. It has increased well, so I have lots of scapes, now, so every day I get to check out these large 10" blooms with all their curls, which I just find fun, sometimes with a whimsical attitude.
The colors kind of depend on the sun, but to me always look nice. Mine starts the day in the shade, so I tend to get pictures with a more purple look, like Jill's up there, but it's not uncommon to get the color from Tree Climber's picture on a different day.
It's an evergreen registered as an Early bloomer. So, one, it's a hardy evergreen, having no major issues in my zone 5 garden. And two, last year, Flirting with Monkeys started on June 17 for me, which was just 8 days after the Stella planted 7 or 8 feet away from it. That's pretty early for a full-sized daylily for me. I get a good four weeks of bloom consistently, and sometimes a couple more if I'm lucky enough to get some instant rebloom scapes, but I don't get rebloom scapes every year, here. Maybe when I get a bigger clump. I can get scapes with 20 blooms, but more typically it's in the teens here.
