Blazing Cannons is an excellent red. The first few years I had it, it did attain bud counts in the 20s and rebloomed. It also threw prolifs most years. Although registered as an EM bloomer, it blooms midseason here.

That's lovely, Debra! In 2022, I hope my Blazing Cannons will find its feet and look more like your plant. Planted in Fall, 2020, it was off to a rough start with one of the crowns barely making it through 2021. The blooms were disappointingly misshapen and marked while their immediate neighbors looked wonderful and put on a good show. Maybe I should say, in the spirit of glass half-full, "despite resenting the disturbance of being washed and transplanted, the plant valiantly tried to offer a floral display AND rebloomed!" I took only a few pictures in spite of my commitment to unbiased photojournalism. Too painful to document on some days, as I had wanted it for a while and it wasn't cheap. Poor bud count, but the rebloom did a bit better than the first round.

Justine - I hope your Blazing Saddles perks up this year. I've never blooms here look like yours. My plant got hit hard by Junebug beetle predation the past few years. I'm hoping it will
have recovered some this year.

Thanks, Debra! Please say more about Junebug damage. I haven't seen them at work. Do they go after the blooms or leaves like Japanese beetles might, or do the larvae eat the roots?

Junebug beetles and Japanese beetles have devoured the roots on many of my daylilies and have completely killed large clumps. I've spent hundreds of dollars the past few years trying to eradicate them.

This one has not performed well in my zone 8b, SE Ms. garden. It seems to need cooler temperatures than mine. It's slow to increase, fans are small, blooms often misformed and splotchy. I have seen it growing in the hybridizers garden and it was fabulous there.
