I asked Zuzu if it would be ok if I started the thread this year.

Overall I had excellent experience with all my orders this year. There were a few issues but they were corrected or would have been if it had been needed, so I'm not holding it against the vendors. I'm not good at rating or giving grades so it's more of a review of my experience and the prices I paid from each place. I was very impressed with the places I tried for the first time and already have orders with most of them for this spring.

Jackson and Perkins
Bareroots - grafted
Prices Paid Per Rose $25.95-31.95, Shipping $12.95 and $25.95

I originally ordered 4 or 5 bareroots. I also had one rose ordered separately. I received emails that 2-3 of the roses were cancelled, the remaining roses arrived as scheduled and are still doing well. All 3 were the correct rose. Definitely an improvement over last year which had a 50% mislabel rate.

Heirloom
1 gallon pots - own root
Prices Paid Per Rose $39-$54 Shipping $15

I had 4 orders spread out over the season. All arrived on time and in great condition. All of the roses have grown and bloomed well, with the exception of one that was planted in October. I always get great roses from
Heirloom, I have only lost one (2020) and they refunded me for that.

David Austin
Bareroots and 2 qt pots - some grafted some own root
Prices Paid Per Rose $29-30 Shipping $14.95

First time ordering. 16 roses in 7 orders. All bareroot except for 2 2 quart roses. All of the roses bloomed and were correct. I did lose Lady Emma Hamilton, she grew a bit and bloomed but then started dying back until nothing was left. They will send me a replacement in the spring.

High Country Roses
1 qt/5" pot - own root
Price Paid Per Rose $17.95 Shipping $16.95

First time ordering. I ordered 6 roses in 3 orders. The last 2 orders were shipped together. I had 2 incorrect roses. One was labeled and Matt immediately sent out the replacement. The other I didn't know was incorrect until it bloomed, and they were sold out of the one I ordered by then. Matt sent the replacement in the fall. Everything is still alive, some have grown more than others but from what I've read, they are slow growers anyway.

Northland Rosarium
1 qt/6 inch pot - own root
Price Paid Per Rose $21.95 Shipping $19.96

First time ordering. I ordered 4 roses, 2 in April and 2 in June. The April order arrived quickly and was in excellent condition. The June order took a week to arrive, some delay on UPS end, not Northland's. The roses were in pretty bad shape. One I was pretty sure would make it but the other I was concerned about. I called and Andrew told me to plant it or pot up and keep him posted on the progress, and if it didn't make it he would refund me. The rose survived and has grown quite tall. I didn't get to see it bloom because the bud formed late in the season and got hit by frost, but I saw enough of the color to be fairly sure it is correct.

Chamblees
1 gallon - own root
Price Paid Per Rose $21.95 Shipping $15

First time ordering. I only ordered 1 rose. It arrived on time and was packaged well, very healthy. It has really grown into a giant rose, was over 8ft by the end of the season, and bloomed well.

A Reverence for Roses
4-6" pot - own root
Price Paid Per Rose $19 Shipping $13.10

First time ordering. I only ordered 1 rose. It arrived on time and was packaged well and was very healthy. I potted up until it doubled in size and planted. It has grown really well and bloomed. Last I checked it was still trying to push new growth.

Antique Rose Emporium
2 gallon - own root
Price Paid Per Rose $22.95 Shipping $22.07

First time ordering. I ordered 2 roses in September and they arrived and were planted in October. Packaged very well and were healthy. They didn't get much time to grow but are still alive and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do in the spring.

Green Promise Farms via Amazon
#3 Nursery Pot (3 gallon?) - not sure if grafted or own root
Price paid per rose $32.99 Shipping Free

First time ordering. I ordered 2 Rugosa Albas in #3 pots (3 gallon?). They were reasonably priced and arrived quickly and were in excellent condition. Both are still doing very well.

My Short one
David Austin roses, arrived in late April and I should have planted them in March...probably due to Covid...just planted them and both are doing fine with blooms this summer

High Country Roses...I asked for roses really early...first week of March and I babied them on the porch...Easy Spirit bloomed 2 weeks after arriving. All are doing great, correct and lots of blooms. I ordered a number of OGR in fall. The Fall (Nov. I think) ones have grown well for fall planted, no blooms until spring.

Northland I only ordered 2 and Distant Drums was really struggling...very helpful customer service and found out DD often needs to dry out between waterings...my fault.

Fresh Garden Living Etsy I ordered 3 and Etsy did not collate all roses. I was able to contact the owner and 2 shipped together. The other arrived seperately, but all did well and lots of blooms over the summer.

Rogue Valley Roses The first order was Aug or Sept and 2/3 of the roses arrived with extremely yellow leaves...called and asked to watch and see.. They all recovered, but only 1 bloomed. I ordered more Dec. 1 and they arrived in great condition, with 1 blooming. 1 rose was missing, I called and got a refund. I don't know if they are correct, but their customer service is very good now.

Heirloom...I have a wish list of roses that I can't get anywhere else, but waited for a sale and free shipping, then ordered 4 to be cost effective. They arrived Dec. 6 and look well grown, but not much better than the High Country ones of the same age. The biggest disappointment was that when I called to ask how long I needed to acclimatize them, I was told to up pot them and keep them in my garage all winter. Being in zone 8, I don't keep anything in the garage all winter, but was told that they may not honor their warranty if I kept them outside....really? It rarely gets below 20f.

I have noticed that all the places I ordered from have gone up in price...most by $2-$4, but Heirloom by $12.

Thanks for posting yours Sandsock :)

I have noticed prices have gone up most places. I know there are always a lot of posts about Heirloom prices changing. I was bored one day and decided to start a list of the roses I've bought from there and what I paid and then following the prices changes from there.
