As a person with a gardening business in Alaska, I have dealt with Seaberry in a customers garden for over 15 years. Yes, the leaves are beautiful and the berries are like tiny papaya's, I have made jelly from the berries and tea from dried leaves and berries, both were delicious. BUT as the article states they have a very strong root system which spreads by suckering. Yep you bet, it's a very suckering tree/shrub. My advice to anyone wanting to plant a Seaberry in your yard, please do not plant anywhere near or in your garden. Or you will be cutting and pulling suckers indefinitely. The roots with suckers have traveled at least 40 ft from original tree! So Seaberry is best left for wildlife habitat or probably best used for preventing erosion with their strong roots and many suckers. PLEASE DO NOT PLANT THIS TREE IN YOUR GARDEN!!!! Fair warning!!😎
