Thread OP

Hello all - I've rescued what I think are three houseplants from near where I live and am wondering whether it is possible to save them? I'll try to attach images (this is my first time posting) - there was a fourth, what looked to be another type of cactus, but unfortunately that one I think has already died. All three are extremely sodden and feel very heavy in their pots which I'm assuming is coming from the rain we've been having recently. I'm not sure what plants they are or how long they've been outside for.

I live in a flat but have my own entrance and so I have a little space there if they are best off outside. All my windows face the same direction (south, with one window facing east). Also for reference, I live in the south-west of the UK which is very cold and wet at the moment!

Are they beyond hope, or do they have a chance? Crossing Fingers!

Welcome!

All are alive. The first is an Aloe (the dead branch doesn't belong) - it may be in the best shape. The second is a Blue Star Fern - I see new little leaves coming up. The third is a Mammillaria, probably spinosissima. It is suffering from major light deprivation, that's why the top of the cactus is pointy. It should be the same width as the bottom.

The Fern is the only shade plant. The Aloe and the cactus will both appreciate as much sun as you can give them.

I see good potential in all of them..just follow the advice given already.

Do all your containers have drain holes? That is the other factor to consider too. Got to make sure excess water drains out so the rootzone does not stay too wet than needed. Always remember too succulents need less watering..longer watering intervals during winter.

Nice to hear you have good window orientations! The succulents will love the south facing one, and the other will do okay on the east facing one.

Just be very patient..plants takes awhile to acclimate to its new growing area, till natural light levels start to go longer and temps ambient temps warmer.

Usually it will be till mid Spring, so patience will be your best friend.
