Your plant looks very happy and healthy and the unusual growth is interesting. I wonder if it might be a form of fasciation, which can be caused by mutation or viral infection?
I'll be watching this thread in hopes that someone can clarify with more information!

Just some perlite or vermiculite. I tend to water with reckless abandon. I'm wondering if the cause is physiological, viral or maybe even a tiny more of some kindโฆ

Since the rest of the plant looks so healthy, it doesn't seem concerning but not something I've seen before. Hopefully it's not related to mites like some fasciation can be.
