It really doesn't matter what it is, it is very likely to be ineffective if used.
If it is a concentrated fertilizer, chemical insecticide or whatever, the label has really degraded from age.
The cap appears to have some corrosion.

Chances are due to the age of the bottle, the effectiveness of the liquid has diminished. So much so it is likely to be ineffective or even dangerous to use.

…and the fact that it is marked as poison leads one to believe it should be disposed of appropriately. In my former life I had a great deal of experience dealing with hazardous waste disposal. Of the 30 states for which I had responsibility California had some of the most stringent rules but the best infrastructure for homeowners. I suggest you check with the San Joaquin Household Hazardous Waste Facility and see if there is still a program for dropping off small quantities of hazmat. There is certainty no way you can safely use the product without knowing what it is or having its application instructions.
I find myself most amusing.

Thank you for the replies... BUT... I am curious what the contents was. That is all. The bottle is empty. I have a small decorative shelf on one side of the pumphouse where I have a few old bottles & cans.
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it!

Very small bottle for outdoor pesticide. But it refers to spraying and drift. . maybe someone can recognize the label. The brand might say .. black
Googling got me nowhere.
Plant it and they will come.

Again I will add, it really does not matter. Judging by the apparent age of the bottle, can we even assume it is even still available? I don't know.

I would just dispose of it ASAP. If it is done properly of course.

Probably "Black Flag" brand of some sort of insecticide... it doesn't look to me like something worth displaying, but to each their own I guess Shrug!

Not a perfect label match, but check out these images of Black Leaf 40 Nicotine sulfate solution.

Good call on possible Black Flag ("Kills Bugs Dead!") product. Maybe one akin to the bottle at the bottom of this ad?

Nothing wrong with interest in collectibles — it's fun and preserves little pieces of cultural history. Too bad the label is so degraded.

I too like a puzzle and like looking at some old things. And this probably isn't even as old as me, and I am not THAT old.. yet.. am I? and it is EMPTY but for maybe traces, and capped. So let's not disparage the NCRAS's interest in it. Smiling Smiling Smiling Smiling Smiling Smiling Smiling

That's the same Black Leaf 40 bottle that I posted, Sally.
I bet that NCRAS's bottle is the same product with a different version of the label.

It looks like we have a winner in regard to the bottle ID. I am not sure if it was clear in the photo(s) but I was able to make out what I thought was the word "black" but I did not want provide information that "fresh eyes" bring to ID'ing these sorts of items.

To those of you who helped/attempted to help answer my question, I thank you for your efforts. To the others...
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it!

Looks like Black Flag insecticide to me. I used to have a bottle of it back in the old days.
Maybe it takes a long time to grow, but remember that if nobody plants it, nobody has it.

I think the links that Danita and Sally posted for the "Black Leaf" product are quite likely a match Thumbs up
