It seems a bit frivolous to post about daylilies when the world is in such strife. For a few years I have watched with tears, the terrible weather and fires in US, the shootings, and COVID. I hope the health workers will soon have their nightmare eased.

Around Christmas 2019 I got a flu and had awful post viral symptoms for over a year. Thankfully the zombie brain, weakness and aches have receded. I got a new laptop, and my eyes work better now

After a few years of unusually high temperatures and very little rain, I lost many plants. but a few daylilies that I thought long gone have resurrected with the copious rain of this past 8 months.

HELENA SEABIRD, in a large pot and with a bit less rust than it used to get, flowered for a few months. It is a beautiful flower., and withstands heavy rain and strong sun very well. First pic is shaded.

But the longest bloomer has been COSMOPOLITAN, which I have in the ground and also a large pot

CRIMSON ICON is also long blooming.

ALMA CANGAMI, tho not spectacular was one of the earliest to say 'I am still here'.

Welcome back Bron. You went through a rough time. Glad to hear that you are doing better. We missed you, Gleni and all our friends on your side very much. Yes, it has been tragic all over the world for sure. Some of us has lost loved ones, friends and neighbors. Glad to hear that the rainy season has returned.

Hi, Bron. Thanks for sharing your pictures. It's not at all frivolous to post about daylilies--it's therapeutic! Smiling

I also have Cosmopolitan, and it is a very long bloomer here as well. It's one of my favorites!

There has never been a point in history when the world was not in strife. It is a constant companion to this world through every generation that has ever existed and every generation to come. There is nothing wrong with frivolous distractions to escape reality of the world now and again. Some people bake, some people have kids or pets, some drink booze or take other drugs, some people watch or play sports, some escape into books or art or music, and I guess some people garden. Do not feel guilty about inviting pleasure and joy into your life. Small respites replenish our energy supplies.
Helena Seabird looks totally gorgeous. Lovey dubby
I hope you keep posting your photos. Inspiring others is a good way to combat strife.

Orion's words touched me too. I have at times had pangs of guilt for enjoying my freedom to do what I want. I pray every day for the people of Ukraine and for peace for all of us.

What is at stake anywhere in the world is the right for taking up 'frivolous distractions'. Ever since this senseless war started...yes in Ukraine...but not only there...I get into deep prayer almost every time during my active day. Interestingly when I simply get concentrated in my gardening activities, the dangers of the psychological side of this global threat are diminished or even can be averted. I see the hand of my Lord there acting... so I resort to gardening more fervently... Big Grin
Of course there's strife, on large scale, but I'm of the belief that what's promised will come to bear fruit at some point in history's timeline. These are not precisely ordinary times...now that Covid seems over...a new tribulation is looming over everyone. Time will tell, but in spite of the heart-wringing devastation I'm hopefull that truth, goodness and beauty will prevail.
