Hello!
My Peace Lily is giant and luscious, but in the last couple of months any new baby leaf turns yellow and dies when it's still tiny.

It's in a room with west and south-facing windows, getting plenty of bright, indirect light, and closest to the west window. I think there may be too much light in this room for it and have considered moving it, but most of my house is under construction at the moment.

I haven't fertilized it in a while since it's been winter.

Humidity levels range from 40-70% in the room.

Standard soil with peat and loam and a little sand I think.

I water it apx. every 3 days (it's my heaviest drinker!) when the leaves start drooping a little.

So what do you all think?

Are you able to add a pic of the whole plant? Waiting until it is wilting is probably waiting too long.

Hi! Yes, I'll post a photo. The wilting is SO slight, I don't know anyone but me would notice. I read that that is a good way to tell when it needs watering, and to not overwater - perhaps that's wrong! I have uploaded a photo of it when it is as wilty as I let it get. I have also since moved it to a spot where it gets just a little less light because I think the leaves were showing a tiny bit of stress from too much light. Excuse the mess, like I said, my house is getting renovated, and everything is in disarray. Thanks!

Peace lilies love water and hate drying out. Give it more water when you water and it should take longer to dry out. That also looks more like an old leaf than a new one which would be in the middle of the plant, not on the outside.

I agree about not waiting until the plant is wilting as that is causing stress. They are very thirsty plants, especially the larger leaved ones which is what you have. When you do water, do it thoroughly so that water flows out of the drainage holes then discard any excess not taken up by the plant. The shedding of occasional yellow leaves is normal.

It's lovely! Agree. As your plant grows, it may use more water. Water as needed, not by predetermined schedule. Best luck with the reno.

Thanks everyone. The way I water is that I take it out of the cover pot and put it in the bathtub. I then soak it through using a watering can to get all around the plant. I do this about 3 times and then let it drain all of its excess water completely, then I put it back.

I'm not on a schedule, and usually just stick my fingers in my plants to see how the soil feels a couple inches down. With this plant, it's usually the 3rd day that it's dry, and the leaves are ever so wilty. I'm guilty of over-mother my plants which has caused more harm than good, so I've been trying to let them be and get a little more on the dry side. But with this peace lily, it's not working out! So I think I will start testing the soil and watering it about every 2 days then, and see how that goes.

That sounds like what I would do, from the info we have here.
