Our garden umbrellas were bleached by the sun and heavily damaged by a hail storm last year. Winter was also unkind to them. They looked really bad...hail holes, ripped areas, etc. I recently saw umbrella canopy replacements on Amazon. Both of the originals had about a 6-8" ruffle that hung down around the edges. Unfortunately, I couldn't find canopy replacements with ruffles. While the ones I replaced today are a huge upgrade from what ours had become, with an eye on the future, we'd like to source the ones with ruffles. Had anyone seen them anywhere?

BTW, I'm going to miss the Bolla umbrella when it dies. It was given to me by my brother from when he worked in the restaurant industry. I've never seen them again.

Oh...and please pardon the mess. We're starting to bring up stuff from the dungeon and we haven't finished clearing brush from the winter.

The white balcony chair from Boston Legal! I was once looking for a pair of them but were too expensive. Now you're going to make me look for them again!

No help about where you can get the type of fabric you want, but I always close my umbrella when it's not being used, so it's safe from hail. And for the winter, I store it in the garage, it's staying in very good shape so far. But you might consider spraying the new umbrellas with something like Scotchgard Water & Sun Shield at the beginning of each season. I've used it on my cushions and it really does help prevent fading from the sun.

Thanks! The pair of Philippe Starck Bubble chairs I have were a portion of suite that came into a local Habitat ReStore. I got there 20 minutes after they got to the floor and four more chairs, two couches and another unit were already taken. I was bummed about missing the rest but glad to get the two chairs though. Alas, two of the the Habitat ReStores here were closed.

Did you try the manufacturers of the umbrellas? When I was searching for mine, I remember seeing some selling just the replacement fabric alone.

I no longer remember the manufacturer and it isn't printed anywhere that I could find. We were going to try making them but it would have cost as much for just the material as for the replacement.

We usually do put them up in winter. We didn't this last winter because the years of sun and that last hail storm trashed them and I was trying to research options. When I found the canopy replacements I jumped at them. They went on easily. I don't know about longevity but they appear fine. It's certainly better than sending the old ones to the landfill!!!

I love your garden-mess and all! Garden aren't supposed to be nice and neat in the spring-that's when all the action happens. I honestly like the chaos of overgrown plants from last year and weedy corners. Divide and conquer. I didn't know you could get replacement canopy's. I'll keep this in mind. in spring, at the end of the day you should smell like dirt.

We keep all the prior year's brush for bird cover. Additionally, I pick one garden bed each year to be the artificial hedgerow. I pile in all the tomato cages, sunflower stalks and other branches until it is about 4-6 feet high and great cover. Then I concentrate the bird feeders in that area. They enrich the bed all season and right about now (some time this week actually) I deconstruct it and prep for the season. My "fall cleanup" is really a spring cleanup.

Is this one something like what you're looking for? Now I'm wondering if all 9 foot/8 arm canopies would be interchangeable in case I ever need to get a new one.

I also found I think the same one at Walmart.

Edit: I also found this interesting info about spray painting your faded canopy. Not helpful in your instance because of the hail holes, but I found it interesting that you could even do it.

Yes. Well...maybe not as scalloped but yes. Last week I couldn't find them so I went with the fix I could find. Sigh. Well...I now know. THANKS!

I'll also look at the painting of the canopy. Long before the holes and rips, the sun squeezed most of the color out of them.

The edging I was looking for is more like this.

If your going down the painting path you could always stencil another BOLLA umbrella. The possibilities are endless with the right paint. You could "stamp" paint too. what a fun project!

I saw those also, but didn't think "ruffles" would describe that edging (nor the other one really for that matter either but thought it might come closer). But I also figured if you looked at one link at Amazon, you'd see the others.
