Hello all! A few years ago I was wandering in the desert where people dump a lot of construction materials, including yard debris. I found a rhizome and brought it home. My husband found it in the car and asked about it. I told him I wanted to plant it. He told me not to, but I like to live on the edge, so I did. Imagine my surprise! Does anyone know what kind of bearded irises they are?

Love your name lol! And what a great find. I love it when people rescue irises, Unfortunately there are so many hybrids it's hard to know for sure specifically what name this iris has. It's pretty though thanks for sharing it's story.

Wow, it's GORGEOUS! Looks like it has some great big flowers. Does it have purple based foliage? That can be a clue. There is a list of known "PBF" irises online but because I'm still too new here, I am not allowed to post the link. 😞😞 If you aren't familiar with what I mean, some iris cultivars have a tinge of reddish-purple coloring at the bases of the leaves and/or stalk. Some types have just a little, and others have a very pronounced purple/reddish shading. This is a genetic characteristic and for many cultivars, it's a "breed standard". One well known white TB with PBF is 'Snow Goddess', which I have in my garden. There are others. This can help narrow down the field, but there are still quite a few with this trait. You can use the PBF along with other traits such as beard color, bloom time, reblooming traits (more than one bloom period-- 'Immortality' is an example of a white TB iris that is known to rebloom); veining color, etc. to further help you out.

Or, you can simply love your beautiful angelic iris for all of its magnificent glory and call it whatever you want as long as it is in your garden and don't tell anyone that the name you call it is a real cultivar name! 😍😍

Welcome! Abby, to the iris forum! What a nice find from a dump site! I'm afraid an all-white iris will be unidentifiable--there are just too many others. But it is beautiful, so just enjoy it, and call it "my white rescued NOID"
BTW: I like your kitty in the window--looks like a little black panther! Smiling

That's 'Snow Goddess'. She's my first "big iris" to bloom this year. She just bloomed today for the first time this season. She has her own post.

Here she is with the bluebonnets in front of her
