Next in line, my second 'bigger iris' is now showing up. Say good morning to 'Debby Rairdon', the 1971 American Dykes Medal winner! She just "donated" some pollen to 'Snow Goddess'. Going to see what we get out of this match-up.

Update-- it appears as though a POD is developing on 'Snow Goddess'! 'Debby Rairdon' is the donor, and this year she's throwing some big blooms, like 'Snow Goddess'. May have some pretty big blooming offspring from this if the seeds are good. 😃😃

Yes, my first pollen transfer took place in 2018 and the maiden bloom happened last year-- 3 years. Its sibling is developing stalks, but that poor sibling had a much harder time with some storms, squirrels knocking over the starter pots, a small tree limb that fell on her, etc. So she needed a year to recover from all that. But she's a vigorous grower with lots of increases and several stalks coming in, so she seems promising so far. Let's hope that she's as pretty as her sister, 'Queen of Peace'. (BTW, I see the influence of one of the "ancestors" in this one-- 'Rippling Waters', one of the pod side contributors that would be 'Queen's' great-great grandparent going up the pod's "paternal" or pollen side-- if that makes sense. Queen's pod-side ancestry comes from 'Chasing Rainbows', through 'Sweet Musette', and 'Sweet Musette' has 'RW' on her pollen side)

My 2019 transfers are budding now and the first "color-up" is just now starting to peek out. I see orange, like the pollen donor. Thus, I figure about 3 years on average from pollen transfer to maiden bloom, give or take. I'm patient, LOL!!
