Chelle: Thanks so much for sharing this great idea! Those containers make such lovely planters and I really need to know where you purchased them! I've never seen refuse containers like those and I'd sure like a few ... love the idea of the wire outer basket too! Thumbs up

Dollar General and Walmart seem to stock them most regularly around here, Lin. I've found some online too, but they're generally more $.

Looks very neat. Wire baskets are a really nice idea. I thought at first you were using those huge trash cans, so glad I opened your article.

Chelle, only you could have thought of that! How gorgeous, you are so inventive. Green Grin!

I actually have a couple of those wire trash cans in a red color, I was wondering what to do with them! Thumbs up

Big Grin Thanks!

I thought I'd mentioned the size when I submitted the article but I guess I didn't after all.
Some of mine are tagged as 2.8 L, and some are a bit larger. Any about this size and significantly taller than they are wide work very well and are easily moved from place to place. Smiling

Chelle, first let me say, your pictures are beautiful!

I like using things like trash cans as planters. I have one trash can about the size of yours which is great for flowing plants, like nasturtiums. You've inspired me to find more! Like you said, it's an inexpensive way to pot up your plants. It's just so crazy how much money they want for planters at the garden centers and nurseries!

Great tip! Thumbs up

I was just told from my neighbor about using aluminum cans in deep planters. She came over asking if I had any soda cans and of course had to know why. Now, I'm saving some for myself when I use a large container for planting.

Oddly enough, a few years ago I found some really inexpensive planters at Walmart (I mean CHEAP, like 97 cents!) and used them for trash cans in the house! They were cheaper and larger than the trash cans! Hilarious!

...and even odder yet maybe... I'm toying with the idea of using a big ceramic planter as a laundry hamper! Rolling on the floor laughing I'm tired of the cat clawing up those slat-sided affairs that we've been using for years. Hilarious!

Smiling Be more esthetically pleasing, too. But where are you going to find a ceramic planter with a lid? Hilarious!

I'd probably just leave it open. We rarely close ours anyway. Whistling

If one were needed however, a matching or contrasting ceramic plate with a ceramic or glass ball handle attached to it might make a nice lid. Smiling
Hmmm... ideas - now to find the time...!
