Purchased these several years ago, got blooms the first year than nothing other than leaves. This year I brought it up from the basement earlier than normal, and gave it more water than I normally do for other amaryllis, today it surprised me with a bud!

This demonstrates the reason, if you have the space and patience, to hang onto a "reluctant bloomer".
