Good morning and Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers!

Here is my current garden. I have sprinter boxwoods, catmint, sweet alyssum, and impatiens. I need a plant to put on the corner or my house (not pictured). I want something that grows fast, and grows to around 5-6 feet tall. I'm trying to block our trash cans, lol. Anyway, any ideas of something that would look good with what I have? I would like it to look nice during the winter. I'm open to small trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, etc?

Are you wanting to block the trash cans also in the winter so you'd want an evergreen? Yews might be worth a look, light trimming forces new growth so they really will look full and are nearly indestructible. Otherwise a hydrangea might be good, I'd stick with the old full-proof Annabelles, they do get quite full and are beautiful.

photinia might work. You do get color all year round and some bloom in the spring. Definitely within your specifications and will take to moderate trimming. I put 3 in as a privacy hedge about 10 years ago. I let them grow because I didn't want to see or hear the neighbors. They're about 20-25ft tall now because I never tended to them-as I should have. Also evergreens do the job well too as Musky said. Just pick the right one.

Full sun? Partial shade? How often can you afford to water it?

Full sum, the water amount doesn't matter.

Is this the same area as the other discussion about the mystery plant & violets?

Oh my gosh! Yes, close. Haha! It's around the corner, lol. I was hoping to put a hydrangea in that area, and a grass plant around the corner to block the trash cans. I have been asking so many questions! I finally get to garden, so I'm going crazy, haha.

I know that feeling!! : ) I hope you don't discover more goutweed (if that is what was in the other pics) in this area. All kinds of things could start growing/sprouting.

Me too! Things just keep coming! Do people intentionally plant goutweed? I like the lamb's ears and violets, but I'm not sure about that stuff!

I've seen people plant variegated goutweed on purpose, but not the plain kind. But it's possible that it was variegated and reverted. I like the lamb's ear & violets too. : )
