this popped up in my pasture
It looks like timothy but has a dark seed head?

Timothy has a kind of bulbous base if you can dig one up, there's a pic here (scroll down to crown)

I dug one up and it appears to have a straight shaft
....so not exactly timothy but I am sure it is a phleum of some sorts.

Perhaps compare with Alopecurus?

I took a look at your suggestion that may be they

I am not good with grasses , they all look to much alike to me .
I will leave them to do what they wish in the pasture area.
