This cv is borderline hardy in my area as expected of most evergreens. It is in the most protected spot of my gardens and has been here 6 seasons now--still only 6 fans. I get 6 blooms on 2 way branching but the blooms are so gorgeous to me that it continues to occupy prime real estate!! The height is a little over 20" and I look forward to seeing its pretty face every year

I had Texas Blue Eyes in my garden between 2011 and 2016, then donated it to the club sale. It is a nice plant and has some nice looking kids, but it was only 20 inches tall and bloomed just barely above the foliage. I prefer the blooms to be at least a few inches above the foliage. Sometimes that pencil edge around the eye really stands out and makes it looks very dramatic. I didn't take note of bud count and branching at the time.

From the pictures I have, it seemed to increase at a decent rate. If only looking at the bloom, I would fall in love with it all over again. Just wish the scapes were a little taller.

I have grown Texas Blue Eyes for many years. It was once a massive clump that bloomed and rebloomed well - until slugs devoured all but three fans. I have moved it twice since that catastrophe, and now it seems to multiply very slowly. I do like the blooms, and I have gotten some nice, taller seedlings out of it.

I purchased 2 fans of TBE in 2016. I believe it bloomed that year. I thought it was a goner after its first winter. I ended up digging up that entire bed to dig out some invading roots a couple of years later. Lo and behold in 2020 one fan bloomed! And it bloomed again in 2021. So I can't say much about it except that it is hardier than I expected. It also must act as a dormant for me because all the other plants in that bed are dormant, SEV or EVs that act as dormants and I never noticed an evergreen fan all those years. Now if it would only start increasing that would be lovely.

I planted TBE in the Spring of 2021. It pretty much just sat there. I added two more fans this Spring of 2022. By fall it was up to 7 fans.

TBE bloomed July 7-23 with 8 blooms. They were a little imperfect but not bad. Hopefully, I'll get some more action next season

2023 update…TBE bloomed from July 7-21 ( not very long) with 14 blooms ( not very many). It is still at six fans. The flower is very nice, I love the lavender eye against the pink petals. It's fine that it's short, as it is in the front of the Patio Bed.
